Hi guys,
currently having a problem.
I have dual OS installed. vista / xp
Recently, the xp is unable to boot up, even in safe mode.
But the vista is able to.
Is there anyway i can retrieve some important data from xp, by booting up vista?
Both the OS are stored in the same drive.
Or is there anyway i can help to repair the xp OS?
The error said something about not being able to boot up due to either hardware or software change. can't boot even in safe mode.

there is a chance that the vista instance has 'upgraded' the ntfs partition that you have xp installed on. if an xp partition is upgraded after xp is installed the xp drivers and boot sector may not be able to read/write the partition. so no boot.
There are of course other reasons but this is the one i'd seize on first.
try bringing up your vista instance, then, through disk management, try to mount the partition that has XP installed. if this is successful you might be able to copy your data off.
for future reference, virtual machine software like virtualbox are more than mature enough to run multiple OS (windows, linux, etc) under a single host os. no hassles with partitions, filesystems, etc, etc. -
uhm... to be honest.. i have no idea what you are talking about... nor how to proceed from there...
is there a dummy guide for idiots? >.< -
sorry. read up on how to get into your control panel|device manager|disk management and how to mount partitions and drives.
google (and maybe a friend who has a hair more experience) is your friend here.
