I heard a recommendation for this on Live Digital- Just wondering if anyone is happy with the free version for windows.
I glanced at a thread there and it did not seem to reliable at least for this MAC person- Mass Undelete Dropbox Forums
    TIA
I went with Dropbox, very slick program. I am up to 2.5 GIG already. I am on a slow DSL so the ability to throttle file updates is perfect!
Kudo's to all repliers, Special thanks to the Master Viking

Only time I had dropbox go crazy on me was when I changed my hdd for a ssd and then when I installed DB it figured I had deleted all those files.

However I didnt lose them I am pretty sure I just went and restored them.

So as long as you avoid that situation you should be fine.

If you are going to go for dropbox (no reason not to try it as its free) let me know and I can PM you my affiliate link so you get an extra 500MB of space.

I have done some very nifty things with dropbox :D

Also Box.Net is another one that I think is very similar if not exactly the same, my HP Touchpad came with a free 50GB of box.net storage so I have not used it yet but I have an account.

Thanks much for the quick reply, I looked at Box.net & they offer 5 GIG free and DB is only 2 GIG, I guess Shelly Palmer does not know everyting after all. ;)
BTW I do not want to use anything related to Google or M$.
    +1

Yeah box.net larger free account, however in the paid accounts dropbox is cheaper so if you ever decide that you use it enough or need the larger space dropbox is the better deal.

I have gotten a few free size extensions here and there over the time I have used it via an event they had and a few people joining via my friends program.

That reads like a user error. He deleted a bunch of files and Dropbox dutifully propagated the changes to the rest of the systems. His case illustrates why Dropbox really isn't meant to be used as pure backup, but rather as a great synchronization and collaborative tool.

I haven't had any problems with Dropbox on any of the platforms I run it on.

Thanks Guys, Yeah preview I see what you mean after reading the Documentation again, he must have deleted stuff in the dedicated drop box on his machine and of course the DB 'cloud' propogated the changes.
My backup set up now is regular imaging to external USB drive, Incremental to USB stick. Then I backup both external devices to the seconday HDD in my ASUS. I do like the idea of another layer of backup the cloud would provide for photos, songs, and NBR links by experts like you guys. :D
Recently a similar scenario to this happened to me http://forums.dropbox.com/topic.php?id=56909. Lucky I had redundant backups on an external USB drive.

Dropbox can also easily be increased to 18.9GB free which I have by having an educational email address and using google adwords to spread your affiliate link.
