Check HP's website, not matter how awful it is to navigate. If you can't find drivers for Windows 7, try the Windows Vista drivers, they are often interchangeable. For some devices like the video card, you can get the drivers directly from the manufacturer's website.

Not so simple! The problem with the video card driver, chipset, motherboard, and still a lot of questions! In Power mizer has 4 performance levels (0,1,2,3) It is necessary that the graphics card switches between modes (1,2,3), because the transition to the mode (0) or the laptop back stop.Kak do it ?? ? Completely disable Power mizer I do not want to because the maximum voltage always-1v. Video card wears out faster.

Odd I did a google search and found what seems to be the drivers? Google is you best friend here...and simple search I was able to find them without going to HP site itself to the the link to hp site drivers. The drivers are for Vista and Vista x64 depending on you Windows 7 version but will work for Windows 7. Just match the drivers to your version of W7 ie 7x86 to Vistax86 and 7x64 to Vistax64 and your good to go. No one wants to hear this but just doing one own homework can give you better computing knowledge for future uses.

Video card driver: unless HP went stupid, the one straight from the GPU manufacturer should do the trick,
Chipset: Windows should find that one on its own, it may not be the most up to date, but Windows will have a working one. If you see unknown devices in the device manager, it's not the chipset itself. It could be Intel MEI or something like that, but not the chipset.
Motherboard: There is no motherboard driver per say, there will be drivers for other chips on the board, but the motherboard itself doesn't require a driver update.

The chipset is likely an Intel series 4 chipset, PM45, GM45, etc.

For that age of laptop get the newest one...but when you do update make sure that is the only thing running and keep it charged and plugged into power outlet to prevent any power outage during update.

No, this is not correct for the HDX. Never drivers than 197.45 or so, cause BSODs because they can't properly manage powermizer.

denforeva75, see the first post of the following thread: http://forum.notebookreview.com/hp-envy-hdx/515212-hp-hdx-9000-dragon-owners-lounge-part-2-a.html

Trust me, the information there is valid and tested.

Meant to say the Dragon website mentioned earlier is a mine of information. The new graphics driver file I got from the AMD site was:

    http://www2.ati.com/drivers/legacy/13-9-legacy_vista_win7_64_dd_ccc_whql.exe

So far, so good... (had an error due to apparently not installing Microsoft 2010 C++ distributable but it installed the driver anyway..)

I have Win7, a new SSD hard drive + new 1TB drive and 4MB of ram instead of the 2 that came with it. Despite this computer dating back to 2009 (MS Vista) there's really nothing not to like about it with its massive display - it still gets used every day as the main family computer
