Im looking for a free program that will tell me what drivers need to be updated and where to download the driver from. I had Driver Detective but you need to buy it in order to download the drivers i guess :/ Any info you could give me would be awesome.

Ive heard of DriverMax, but ive never tried it, but it seems to have alot of awards and good reviews. Give it a shot. ;)

Also, you could just go to Gateway's site and look for new drivers. ;)

I started using DriverMax and I really like it. There are a few idiosyncrasies, but it works and I am using it on 5 different computers at the house.

Can drivermax be told where to look for the updates? I'd like to have it look at laptopvideo2go for my nvidia drivers...

Not that I have seen. It will pull the drivers from its' database. You would probably have to use the laptopvideo2go site for your video drivers. That is what I do now.

It has been reliable for other drivers, though. For example, the Intel drivers are always up to date with the Intel site.

Does this drivermax check places like Nvidia and other leading component manufacturers for new drivers ?

    Hi.

I think DriverMax is just a driver sharer, as it check your driver versions and copys any newer versions you have, as you download any new ones you find.

    Still a great program thought.

    Regards

    John.

Just downloaded DriverMax.....great program, works fairly quickly on my rig (identified & helped me update 27 old drivers). Will definitely add this to my 'To Download' list for my laptop :)
