Does anyone know where I can download a copy of this? I have been googling it for a while but can't get it from anywhere. I have a university project where we have been told we have been told that the latest version of dreamweaver we can use is Dreamweaver 4.
Any website that I find that has links for the evaluation version just send me to adobes website and to the trail version of dreamweaver 8.

wow, thanks for that, but I think it is a mac version. I have found mac versions before but not a windows version. I guess I'll have to use my uni computers if I can't find one for my laptop.
Uni is just around the corner but I would prefer to do it in the comfort of my own room rather than doing it in the crowded overheated computer rooms.

ah another slight complication. I think its actually dreamweaver 3 I have to use. SO that'll be even harder to find I think. I have all the files that are installed on the uni computers, my module leader copied them onto my ipod so I was just looking through that.

Wow...does it have to be that old? I mean, Dreamweaver 8 still accepts Dreamweaver 3 files, you know. Are you sure you can't get Dreamweaver 8?

It'll be really hard to find it, but look into small software stores. They might have it at the very back :D

I'd say that it's time to find a new school. If they can't supply you with the software, and insist on using outdated versions for their students, the education is sub-standard companies will recognize that the degree you get there is worthless.

There isn't a point in using Dreamweaver 3 or 4, Wizard of Oz. It's too technical to get into, but you are basically making "bad code." Do upgrade to Dreamweaver 8 (or 7, if you cannot afford the newest edition). Macromedia-Adobe gives educational discounts - check out the prices at your university bookstore, or online.

My uni has the latest versions of those softwares as well but the module leader has final say in stuff for his module and he said something about how the older versions are better to learn on (newer versions do too much for you) and that apparently most professionals still use that version. I can easily get hold of the newer versions but we have been told that we HAVE to use 4.

Then it sounds like your instructor is stuck in the past.

"Those who can, do... those who can't, teach... using old software that no one gives a **** about anymore and can't find anywhere on the planet..."

What the other posters have said is true. Not sure how best to handle the situation from your point of view, but I'd say if this instructor is so stuck on Dreamweaver 4, tell him to supply it to his class, or report him to the administration and ask for assistance with acquiring legal versions of the software.

Seems a bit odd, but it's not the first time I've heard of instructors in various educational institutions that simply will not move with the times just because they choose not to learn something new. When instructors can't learn, that's when I simply stop listening to them.

    Just my $.02...

yeah, seemed stupid to us too. we also have to use flash 5, same reasoning there i think. strange as well, i found the teaching for other courses to be better e.g. my friends doing architecture learnt to use dreamweaver 8 for something and their tutorials for it seemed much better.

Well, Wizard of Oz, frankly I think Dreamweaver 8 is just as easy to learn with. I mean, I never tried 3 or 4, but I got used to Dreamweaver within a few days and now I'm designing websites like nuts :D.

Wow, for him to say that most professionals use 4 is a joke. I've used Macromedia (Allaire back then) Homesite while 4 was out. I've just recently moved to Dreamweaver 8 because i like their code view interface and support for .net intellisense. And this is only because Visual Studio still cannot figure out how to not to #$%^ with my html code format....codbehind is another story.
