The Notebook Review forums were hosted by TechTarget, who shut down them down on January 31, 2022. This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    It's just a matter of whether you need or want the functionality they provide. If you don't know what they do... the HP forum would be a better place to ask... although it's probably been covered there before so you can try searching.

    I would install the following:

    [*]Compatibility Pack for the 2007 Office system
    [*]Hewlett-Packard Active Check for Health Check
    [*]Hewlett-Packard Asset Agent for Health Check
    [*]HP Active Support Library
    [*]Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable

    You may need to install all of the HP apps if a software conflict arises.

    I would first just disable all startup processes (and possible services) related to the mentioned apps.
