Diskeeper seems to be able to defrag my HD in less than 15 sec - is this normal, or am I doing something wrong and it's not actual defragmenting my HD? Can someone advise me on how to correctly use it? Thanks in advance.

Well, depending on your settings, Diskeeper may be constantly running in the background and defragging constantly, so yes, a 15-second defrag is possible, I guess. Some would argue that's the point of the program -- it automatically keeps the HD in order, so you don't even have to think about it.

If you're comparing Diskeeper to the Windows-based defragging utility, I wouldn't be alarmed. The Windows defrag utility is the slowest, buggiest, most annoying POS ever. Nearly every third party defragger provides vastly superior performance to the Windows defragger, hence it's only natural to be shocked and amazed when a real defragging program like Diskeeper does what it's supposed to do quickly and efficiently.

Diskeeper uses more efficient algorithm to defrag plus it has the service that try to keep your HDD in good defraged state all the time. (smart scheduling)
FYI, the included de-fragmenting utility also has been developed by Diskeeper Corporation (formerly Executive Software). The included Windows Defragment has not been changed since first day of XP release. So, it's pretty old tech.

Sorry, but I don't think there is ANY way a defrag can be completed in 15 seconds!

If the program is set up to continuously monitor your hard drive, and constantly defrag, it isn't performing a defrag of your hard drive in 15 seconds, it's doing it over a much larger period of time, broken up so that it does the defrag while your computer is idle, 30 seconds here, a minute there, another 45 seconds.....

There is simply NO WAY any program can defrag a hard drive of any currently reasonable size (30 GB or larger) in only fifteen seconds... I don't care how good the program is!

Well if you think it's not defragging properly, just do an analysis of the hdd, and see if there's any fragmented files (i dunno how in diskeeper, but you can do one from the standard windows defrag).
