    Team,

I have been using Ultimate Signature Edition x64 for over a month now and have been unable to find any solution to this 'problem'.

I set this setting both in Advanced Settings and in Eas of Access settings not to animate windows while minimizing and maximizing, but this setting is lost all the time. I set it up and it works for a day or so and is gone again.

    Any ideas?

P.S. You may ask why I want to get rid of them; simple I do not like them.

Maybe the AERO theme automatically sets it to animate while maximizing / minimizing?

    May be the case.

No way to override it? Anyone?

I know you might've done this, but did you try to disable the option by going to the system properties > Advanced > Performance Options > untick the animate while maximizing / minimizing

The aero theme will override it, if you change the theme. Otherwise, change the settings and it sticks.

Just change the settings and save it as a theme. That will help the settings stick.

    Edit:

He's already tried changing it under advanced system properties

That is where I said I changed it in my previous post.

I will try this now and report back, but it sounds very reasonable.

EDIT: Did not want to produce one post after another so I am reporting my findings here.

Did not work. I changed the setting in Ease of Access and Advanced Settings and saved the theme. Did not touch my themes or anything and after sometime/ maybe a reboot it is again animating windows while maximizing and minimizing. The setting in Ease of Access is still set to not do that but the setting in Advanced Settings has reverted itself to animate them.

Any setting in the registry that I could apply?

EDIT: Found a key in the registry:

HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Explorer\Visual Effects\AnimateMinMax. In there there is a key DefaultApplied which, even though my settings in Advanced settings were set to not animate windows, was set to 1. I assume that this setting being set to 1 will always override my own setting and default to animation.

I will now change this setting to 0 and reboot. Report later again.

EDIT: This setting did not work either. I restarted and everything is back to animating windows.

LAST EDIT: No good! Still does not save!

I have a solution to the problem.

    In here:

    HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Explorer add a DWord(32bit) Value: NoSaveSettings with a value of 0.

    Here:

HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Explorer\Visual Effects\AnimateMinMax make sure it is set to 0.

    In:

HKCU\ControlPanel\Desktop\WindowMetrics set the value of MinAnimate to 0.

Reboot and it should now be saved. No more window animations while minimizing and maximizing which makes the process much faster.

EEDIT:Strange enough, the animations come and go. There must be some app or something that does that.

It saved and has been working for a few hours now with at least one reboot, so maybe I was lucky enough and fixed it.

Just to let everyone know about this.

I applied all the fixes I described in my previous posts plus the one posted by @REB! and windows do not animate anymore.

    Hurraaaaay!
