In general my Fujitsu P7010 XP Home has performed well since I purchased in August.
I now may have a software problem?
When I turn the computer on a message comes on the lower right corner "Divices or applications disabled.
Direct CD will cause Windows to become unstable.Windows has prevented these drivers from loading.

When I click the above, I get -

    DirectCD
    Roxio, Inc.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------
    Issue Description:

A driver is installed that causes stability problems with your system. This driver will be disabled. Please contact the driver manufacturer for an update that is compatible with this version of Windows.

    Contact Information:

    Available Patch: http://www.roxio.com/en/jhtml/xpupdate.jhtml?location=update
Seems like Roxio is trying to sell me something at this site.....

    Yet when I go to my installed programs list, the only CD recording program I see is ;

    Sonic Record Now.

I also have Limewire and Audacity installed.

Can anyone please help me sort out this problem?
I am fearful of losing Windows again and all my information.

    thanks,
    James

The problem is obviously Roxio, it appears that Roxio version 4 is not compatable with XP at all, and you have to patch version 5 to make it compatable.

You should be able to find the patches you need there.

I personally cannot stand Roxio for anything and use Nero.

After you start Windows, hit Start then Run. In the box that pops up type in msconfig. The last tab is the Startup tab. It is a list of all the programs that start when you turn on your computer. I'm guessing there is one in there for DirectCD or Roxio. Clear the checkbox next to it and it won't try to start when you turn on your notebook. After you do this, you'll have to re-boot. After logging on you get an alert box saying something about running in test mode. Just check the box that says "Don't show this box anymore". Good Luck.
