So i just got a P150EM for myself and as I dont understand anything about os's and drivers im letting my reseller install those things for me.
The thing is, im mainly gonna use it for gaming is there any difference between the Home Premium, Professional and Ultimate for it? If so, which one should I get if theres an advantage of one over another.

    Thanks a ton

If you want to use it for gaming stick to "Home Premium". Ultimate supports more languages and other things you don't need when you want to game xD. Home Premium 64-bit will be enough for you, I promise :). But I think you should wait for Windows 8, though ^^. It will be released the 27th of October.

    No you are not ;).

You can use Windows 7 in 120 days for free :). Go to this thread to see how: http://forum.notebookreview.com/win...-7-download-links-just-like-vista-before.html

    To sum it up:
    Install Windows 7
When it asks for the product code you just keep it blank and presses next.
When the 30 days have expired, you can "rearm" it by following these instructions: How to Rearm and Extend Free Usage (Activation Grace Period) of Windows 7 to 120 Days « My Digital Life Then you have another 30 days for free ;). After that you can buy Windows 8 ;)

Btwwwwwwwww I totally forgot about my dreamspark account and turns out I can get a product ID of win 7 professional dreamspark with it, but as I said im totally clueless about how to install it from 0 especially since I wont have a optical drive since I replaced mine with another HDD since the main one is going to be a 128gb SDD. Can the reseller guys install win 7 with their DVDs but with my dreamspark product ID? or are the files different?

    Thanks again

There is also the 16GB RAM limit in 7 Home Premium. It likely won't be a problem for you, but it's something you should be aware of.

And Windows 8 may not be right for you either. I know I'm holding off for a while because I haven't enjoyed what I used from the consumer preview. And with a P150EM it has 4 RAM slots and while you'll likely only ever at most have 16GB in there you may want 32GB some day, but to be honest, the cost of Pro vs Home Premium doesn't justify the cost for that slim chance.

Ask your reseller about Win8 Upgrade. I remember seeing somewhere that the Upgrade would cost 15 euros (whatever, ~20USD I think) if you buy your Win7 license now with a new computer as you are actually doing.

Besides, if you have Win7 license and you do not like the new Win8 experience you still have the old Win7 to go back to.

Windows 8 isn't that groundbreaking of an OS and it definitely won't be something that will drastically improve performance on existing hardware either. I'm not sure what the big deal with Win8 is yet other than it may be better for one's workflow or thinking patterns...
