Does anybody knows why dell inspiron 1525 hard disk partitions not detected while restoring the Keriver backup image in vista or while trying to install windows XP sp3. I think some restrictions in Bios needs to be disabled if so help me.

They could be hidden like the EISA partition.

Assuming that you're talking about the hidden recovery partition _Dell includes on it's systems, it's most likely the case that Keriver simply isn't sophisticated enough to actually "see" partitions that have been hidden precisely so that others cannot get to them except through the Dell-provided recovery mechanism.

That would depend on what _Dell has to say about it's recovery CDs. On my 6 y.o. _Sony VAIO, that is what I get if I run the recovery CDs I received with the system - right back to the factory image.

With the Dell Partition, you'll return to the factory configuration. Dell's "recovery DVD" is actually just a Vista disk. You'll need your "Resource CD" to install drivers, and you'll need the CD's of any additional software that came with the system (DVD decoder, MS Office/Works, etc.)
