I'm having an odd problem that my computer locks when I try to defrag. I'm running windows vista(32).

I've checked my C drive for errors and nothing came up, and the computer runs great otherwise, nothing strange in the task manager.

I installed defraggler so I could see what it was scanning, and the last time I ran it stalled on businesscard.ait in the Adobe Illustrator directory. I'll try running again to see if the lockups happen in the same place.

Any ideas? When it locks the computer I get the 'spinning circle' background like a program isn't responding, but I cant get a prompt to end the program, restart the program, etc. I have to use the power button to reset the computer.

It looks like the problem has been fixed. I removed my hibernation file and the .ait files in question, and both defragmenter and defraggler work properly now.
