I have some movies on my external Hard drive, and I just bought some blank DVD's.

I tried burning some of the movies with Windows DVD Maker, but at like 0.5%, it stops working, and restarts at the beginning.

Is there any software where I can load this .avi movie, burn it to the DVD so I can watch it like a regular DVD? I know I can burn the file, so I can carry it around, and open it up, and play it on other computers, but I want to be able to plug it in to a DVD player or Xbox, and watch it like a normal DVD.

    I have Vista SP1 btw.

And if possible, list a software that's free. I hate paying for stuff, lol. :D

Am heading off to bed. Will read the post sometime tomorrow, so don't expect a response for quite a bit. ;)

you will need to convert it to dvd format first then burn it,
burner can use CDBurnerXP, should work at vista, I guess
converter, can use SUPER, AnyVideoConverter, etc

do remember that either the file size will increase or quality will drop after convert to dvd :)
