    Have Samsung Q35.
Recorded lots of DVD-RW from the TV on my Panasonic DVD Recorder.
They won't play in the laptop, despite both using DVD-RW!
    Am I doing soemthing wrong?

Do you have DVD playing software on your computer? While Windows Media Player will play DVDs, it will not do so without the proper dvd codecs, which are installed when you install dvd playing software

Download VLC Media Player and try playing them with that.

I am not too familiar with stand alone dvd recorders, but if the dvd recorder is set to multisession mode, the disc will have a very limited amount of playback support in other drives

Some DVD recorders use the format DVD+R...I'm not really experienced in this area though.

But when you put the DVD-RW disc into your laptop, does anything happen? Does your computer recognise that there's stuff written on your disc?

You have to finalize the disc so it can play with other players.

I simply take the DVD-RW out of the Panasonic Recorder after recording a TV programme - put it into the laptop and it whirrs away and then says "No disc recognised."
Problem is - I am a simple laptop user.
I bought the Q35 and set it up and so have not changed any settings or downloaded anything for it.
It comes with PowerPlay(?) DVD software, so why doesn't it just open up and play the things?
