I'm looking to backup my DVD's, and this program was recommended.

It seems it's no longer available.

    Can someone recommend an alternative?

Thanks, I've searched through previous threads, but this program has been highly recommended in earlier threads, and as I mentioned, it's no longer available.

The guy behind DVD Decrypter quit when he got a letter from some lawyers. The guy that wrote DVD Shrink quit when he got a job working at Nero. Lots of people still use DVD Decrypter but there are a few dvds that it has problems with. DVD Fab Decrypter is a free program that is currently being updated so it should work with more dvds.

Even though DVD Shrink has not been updated in quite awhile its still probably the best at what it does.

If you want to download dvd decrypter you can still get it at www.doom9.org , google dvd shrink to find that.

    good luck.

I'll second DVDFabDecrypter; use it to rip back-up DVD's to hard disk. To back-up the ripped data onto single layer media I've used DVD Shrink but I find Nero's Recode 2 to do the job a bit faster.

I got my downloads for DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter from AfterDawn or another similar site. They were some of the first results in Google after searching for the programs.

Good luck. Perhaps DVD Fab Decrypter is worth checking out, instead. I'm going to download it, just to be prepared for possible future needs.

DVD Decrypter is actually becoming harder and harder to find on the net. The people who sent the lawyers after the guy that wrote DVD Decrypter basically made him sign away rights of the program over to them. They then went to alot of the websites and had them remove dvd decrypter.

Two notes on DVD Decrypter, 1) Make sure you go into options and uncheck the option to check for updates. There will never be another update and the request now goes to Macrovision. 2) 3.5.4.0 is the last version, some guy used a hex editor and put out a 3.5.5.0 version but that one is a fake.
