I've decided to start making MV's (music videos) again. I was wondering which is a good, free piece of movie-making/editing software compatible with Vista 32-bit. Up till now, I've been using Windows Movie Maker, and it's not bad. But some of the more advanced effects that I see in more professional MV's are unavailable to Windows Movie Maker.

I want to add subtitles for the lyrics of the song(s) that I will be using, and I was wondering which programs would assist me in doing so? I've read a few guides, but they only cover the really basic subtitles. eg. plain white text etc etc. I want to make my MV(s) as attractive as possible, so I want to know how to get nice subtitle effects. I'm looking for karaoke-style subtitles, where the text lights up or changes shape (or some other special effects), to match the words being sung in the song. Are there any decent guides on getting flashy subtitles?

Rome was not built in a day. I am willing to take my time in learning how to achieve these effects. Thanks for the help in advance. Cheers :D
