    Hello!

With my laptop, I got Windows Vista Home Premium installed, and it's DVD. I want to make a copy of it, to use in case I lose/damage it. It already has some scratches, even after premium care. So I was thinking of making a back-up DVD. How do I do it?

    1) How do I create an image of this DVD? Which is the best software?

    2) To create a Windows XP's bootable CD, we have to extract a boot file using ISObuster, and then give it as source in Nero. Is there something like this on Vista as well?

    3) If with help of a guide, I put the SATA driver in it as well (put it in the image and then burn), will it still be legal?

    Thank you!

Just ask for a new set of disks from Dell, they will send it to you. :)

Ok, and I will be able to use my current serial key right, which is on the bottom of the notebook. Though it doesn't ask me for it when I install, maybe because it's the OEM version, so the question changes to, the serial key will be the same? If it's a new one, will it matter with Windows updates etc, and what will happen to the sticker on the bottom of the note book (semi-torn). Will I have to call MS for anything?

    Yea you will.

What you may want to do however is...

Download the 15 day trial version of Acronis DiskImage when you get the chance.

Once your system is tuned as you want it, make a disk backup of your entire system.

The 15 days doesnt matter because that backup can be used to restore at any time.

You could also make a copy using ISO Recorder, a free powertoy for Vista (sort of unofficial). A google search will turn it up. After you install it, put in the Vista disc, then right click on the drive and choose "Copy to ISO". Once that's done, put in a blank, right click on the iso file, and choose "Burn to Disc".
