So I just got a new hard drive for my notebook to replace the 40gig one I'm rollin' with now. Anyone have any suggestions as to a pain-free way to copy my current Vista install along with all settings, drivers, and programs over to the new drive? I tried just copying the entire drive over but that didn't really work. I also tried Windows Easy Transfer but that left a lot of gaps to be filled. What I need really is to be able to clone my old drive to the new one, minus the size limitation.

    Thoughts?

Norton Ghost will get the job done for you. If you have a Mac at hand, you could use the built in Disk Utility to clone the drive.
There are also some free disk cloning software which you can try out.

I would recommend Acronis over Norton.

I'd recommend Ghost 2003 specifically over either the current Ghost or Accronis. It does not require ANY installation on the Windows machine. It runs totally standalone, which in my not so humble opinion is how ALL imaging software should be run.

Acronis or Norton Ghost will both satisfy your problem.

    +1 for Ghost.
