    http://www.bbspot.com/News/2007/09/microsoft-reveals-windows-vista-sp1-will-install-xp.html

I'm not sure if there is truth to this but I think there is. The general reaction to Windows Vista is not too good (although I dont see or have had any problems so far) and so it looks like Microsoft will give Windows XP to customers as a part of Vista SP1. Also in the article, this would allow Microsoft to shift parts of Vista development towards Windows Seven, the next Windows OS.

Pretty interesting to see how it will all turn out. However I dont really understand a lot about what everyone is complaining about. Windows Vista works great for me and I use it for basic and advanced computing needs...but its always different for each individual. I think this is a good move by Microsoft, providing flexibility.

The Windows XP that comes with Vista SP1 might be XP SP3 though, or like a beta of XP SP3, and the final release of XP SP3 could be given through Windows Update a few months later.

Interesting if true (which satire almost never is!), but you are going to have a LOT of people angry they bought that uber-expensive Ultimate or other Vista version that costs much more than XP Pro and/or Home.

Somehow, I doubt that will be the case though...that would be like MS admitting a 6-year project was stillborn before its release. What of DX10 (which we don't care about), or TurboCache (which we don't care about), or ReadyBoost (which we don't care about), or extreme-DRM (which we don't care about), or Texas Hold-'em (which we don't care about), or 64bit computing (which we don't care about), or device drivers that are useless (which we don't care about), or extreme-DRM (which we don't care about again), or extra security layers that are easily bypassed (which we don't care about), or that fancy new WGA scheme that screws over users like myself (which we don't care about)???

I want to have my crap OS back!!!

That is very funny! But it is a joke! I like the part where they threaten to go back to ME if people keep complaining.

Greg they got you! it is a joke!

I clarified my statement. It is too good to be true...

Never mind....I just saw the related articles...this is a joke :) ...why would Microsoft want to offer users a previous OS? The reasons in the article actually made me believe it initially. Obviously they will market Vista as SP1 will make everyone magically like it just as they currently like XP SP2.

Apparently, Microsoft is going to give it's customers what they want, and revert Vista to XP with SP1.

    (chill, it's a joke... ;))

Edit: Whoops. Merged the threads... didn't see this post further down the list :) Yes, it is a joke.

Apparently you guys aren't very familiar with BBSpot. :) They're well-known for their satire/fake "news" articles. They usually contain just enough truth to be somewhat believable, yet still be ridiculously funny.

    <3 BBSpot. :D
