This sounds so cool ...but does it work?

Any advice with software for speaking commands and using gestures? ...I'd really appreciate it!

Which is more important: RAM or Processor?
    -Will a 3rd vs. 4th generation i7 make a difference?
-Will these programs work well with an i-5?
-Is 4 gig of RAM enough?

I don't know the resource overhead of voice dictation systems, but just 'in general' 4GB is very bare minimal for typical computers these days. Even if you remove the dictation and gesture stuff, I'd say "get 8GB" just because it's a sane thing to do for a computer in 2014. That said, the U430 page is showing "temporarily unavailable" and I can't find anywhere that says if the RAM is offered in higher capacity or can be upgraded (some Lenovos are starting to use fixed RAM like my X1 Carbon).

    Hi,
Yes, I agree; upgrading RAM is definitely on the agenda. Unfortunately, the U430 touch can only take a max of 8gig.

I guess my real question might be whether or not the gesture and voice software will work well with a 3rd generation i7, or a 3rd or 4th gen i5. So, if there's an appreciable difference, I'll spend a little more to get a better processor!

I'm also considering a refurb. Lenovo P400 -this one has the 3rd gen i-7 processor, 8gig RAM with a max of 16, ...BUT: no SSD, no gesture/voice software (which sounds like so much fun especially since I read a lot ...but also I could buy later).
