    Hey,

    I moved to Vista today,

I have to say, I really like it, once you disable UAC, it's like XP+

But I have a small problem.

I don't know why, but I have a hard time with Vista's glassy theme.

Explorer and taskbar being translucent makes it really hard to concentrate on files at hand, with all the new background and colours and new blue gradient coloured menus.

And let's be honest if you don't use Aero on Vista then what's the point?

Anyone else having the same problem? do you get used to it eventually or did you go back to classic?

Got rid of some of the features, such as the glassy interface. You can remove this by right clicking on your desktop, select personalise, then I believe it is under "windows appearance" or something.

quite like Aero myself, although took a little time getting use to it.

You can change it by right clicking the desktop, personalize>window color and appearance.

Here here should be a tick box option where you can turn it off, you can also change the colours etc.

If you want to keep most of Aero, but lose the transparency, you can do that:

Control Panel > Appearance & Personalization > Personalization > Window color and appearance

    Uncheck "Enable transparency".

Or... leave transparency on but change the colors and/or increase "color intensity" so the transparency is a little subtler.

A few other Aero effects can be disabled at: Control Panel > Sys & Maint > Performance Information & Tools > Adjust visual effects

Its like a glossy screen, defninitly takes getting used to it. All about focus + concentration.

I used the black Xpize theme forever on my XP machine so, I just set my aero to black and it was all good :)

Aero is the GPU-accelerated window composing system, and it can be on without the transparent... Just Personalize, Windows, and uncheck Transparency. While you're there you can pick from a very wide assortment of colors for your windows.

Vista is so much more than "XP+". :)
