What software (and version) should I use to clone my hard drive? I want to migrate all partitions to a new, external hard drive, then put that drive into my computer. Is this possible? I'd rather not have to install anything (bootable disk?) and I really want to just be able to power up the computer without having to reinstall drivers, etc.

I figured that someone would say that. And if I wanted to use Norton Ghost, would someone suggest a certain version? Go with the latest or use an older version? I want something stable and easy to use (if ATI is the ticket, then just tell me so).

    Edit: I'm cloning XP SP2.

If one of the HDD's is a Seagate (or Maxor) you can use Seagate DiscWizard, it's a stripped down version of ATI but works fine for cloning and backing up and it's free. Linking through it you can get ATI for 40% off.

I use a USB key (512MB would be enough), download a copy of the WAIK from Microsoft, and boot WinPE with a copy of GHOST32 (version 11, can't be older as it needs to be vista compatible). I make a copy of the drive/partitions onto another USB drive using WinPE/Ghost.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I just used ATI. GREAT program. Well, kinda. It didn't work at first and I spent a few hours fiddling with it before I figured out that I had to burn a bootable version of the program because it doesn't work from within Windows XP (and can someone tell me why I had to install it in Windows in the first place?).

I'm not sure, but perhaps the documentation explains the process?
