So my brother is getting a new laptop tomorrow and he wants me to do a clean install of windows 7 for him. I tried to download the iso images in the above thread but I keep getting this error message "file could not be saved because source file could not be found, contact the administrator" or something like that. Also, is there a new version of ABR for windows 7 that I should use or does it only work for vista?

Have you tried running the program in question as Administrator?
By Right-mouse clicking on the program's exe file and then selecting 'Run as Administrator'?

Sometimes things in Windows 7 don't execute well unless this task is performed even if you are already logged in as the Administrator.

The problem actually arises when trying to save the file. I don't have a problem with running isos, adding them to imgburn, etc. This is what's happening with the iso, box, or exes that I try to download: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Source_file_could_not_be_read

I tried their suggestions but they didn't help.

Have you tried using some sort of a download manager that supports resumable downloads? There's a bunch of them out there (such as JDownloader and DownThemAll!)

I'm doing that at the moment but it won't download because of a "size mismatch" error.

Save the ISO on your desktop, and look trough your burning software that it puts it's temp directory to your desktop (you'll be re-installing so you don't care).
What you are seeing is not normal, and should be be expected to see after you re-install Windows 7.

it says in fine print at the ABR website you should download the ABRbeta for windows 7. not just the regular ABR 1.0. hope this helps -
