So I want to do a clean install of XP home on my lappy without all that "free trial garbage" installed. I tried it once step by step (whatever the computer told me to do) and it installed all the **** I don't want. is there some way to bypass this installation? Thanks guys! :)

Without actually knowing, it sounds like you used the recovery disc that came with your notebook instead of an XP Home disc. A lot of them will not let you bypass installing all the bloatware. Your best bet is probably to find a straight copy of XP Home and download and burn all the drivers for your notebook to a CD and install them seperately

Some companys will send you two disks, one with the drivers and one with the OS. If you didn't get a driver disk with your laptop check out the companies website. They should have them there. If not give them a call and ask for them.

If you were using the recovery disc then the drivers should be on there. Just browse through the folders on the disc and there might be a folder called drivers or maybe something similar.
