Hi when press FN + F7 (lower) or F8 (higher) brightness slowly it works okay. But If I hold it for a while then the screen freezes for a few seconds and everything returns to normal. This only happens in Vista. Does anyone know why holding the brightness button makes the screen lag for a while?

Tried a different graphics driver? Also, is there some sort of HP software that shows you the brightness meter? Thanks.

@pixelot: Sorry for the very late reply, I have forgotten about this thread inadvertently! Doesn't matter if this post gets deleted or whatever.

Okay, I'm not sure if HP has a brightness meter but that's a good idea. So I'll search for a brightness meter later. I did try different drivers, but NVIDIA has just released a new one for my card (179.48) so I'll try that out too. Strange though, the brightness changing doesn't lag in XP or Windows 7. ;)

Hmmm. As far as getting it deleted, I think you're in good shape, as it's only a little over a month old. Hope things work out. :)

Oh well, I've tried it with the 179.48 driver and it still "lags". Maybe Vista SP2 will fix it later. But for now I guess I have to live with this. That's good I still have a dual-boot between XP too though. :D
