    Hey,
I need to reinstall windows on a old Compaq. I have got a valid key. Unfortunately the cd was lost at some point. I requested a home cd from a friend of mine. Unfortunately, I got a pro cd instead. I was wondering if there is any way to modify this pro CD into a home CD. I.e. modifying some files or something like that. . . I need it for a Christmas present, so it is kind of urgent.

I have not been able to find a torrent for my version of Windows either.

    Thanks,
    Rasmus

    I don't think it's possible.

Unfortunately it has to be the Danish version. It is for older woman, and she must have Windows in Danish . . . If it was up to, I would install linux on it. But it is not.

Can you boot into the system and does it have the default/factory installation on it?? If so check if it still has the i386 folder on C:\. If it does you might be able to create a XP Home CD using that and install it using your product key.

No it does not. It was painfully slow, and it was formatted before I realized it was a XP Pro cd.
