Check that Internet Explorer isn't set for "Work Offline".

I can't edit for some reason...

    Anyway.

Skype can't connect for some reason...I tried on my iPhone connected to my router and it works fine...so it's not the net connection.

I'm wondering if there is some issue with the connection settings or something that would affect both...

I remember seeing somewhere when an user posted about this issue, and ended up fixing it on their own.. he/she found that 'active x' was disabled in the router and that person having trouble with the update..

So they enabled it and the update n everything went on well... And I also remember quiet a few of those who has this issue found that the problem (don't know what it was specifically) was with the router... you could try resetting the router or updating the firmware or something like that..

Check it out if it may help in any way...

I actually looked into it... problem is my router has 0 settings..lolz.
I also tried hooking it up directly to my 3G modem...and no go. ALso, it was downloading fine from the router before.

I might just format the bloody thing.

I tried those... they aren't downloading.
Could I trouble you to upload the x64 one to another server or something?

Thanks so much for all the help... +rep!

Screw it. I'm just going to format the bloody thing and this time take it step by step by step by step by step. Last install I was too concerned with getting the bloody thing not to freeze, now that I got a solution for it, I can worry about getting everything installed just right. Thanks all. :)

Since you reformatted, you no longer have norton, correct? Thus, removing Norton is not the answer.

That said, you didn't try a fairly obvious thing--taking your laptop elsewhere and running an update.

Not too long ago, I ran into a case where Windows would not update for a client, I took his laptop back to the shop and it updated fine. I took it back to his place, it would not update.

Turned out that his ISP's DNS servers were not properly updated. From his place, I manually input open DNS servers and the updates proceeded as normal.

Other than, attach a copy of your windows update log and maybe someone can give a more informed guess.

Well...it works. Guess..... not like I did anything different. Oh well.
