My HP laptop have a turn off problem. I can put it in the standby mode but I can't turn it off. After I shut it off by pressing the power button and then turn it on again, it boot just fine. I wonder what would be the potential problems. Should I reinstall the window xp again?

I tried to run the msconfig to fix the problem but it never works.

    Thanks for your help

Have you checked your Power settings to see how they are set for pushing the power button, closing the lid, etc.?

    Hi

When I press start --> turn off computer, the window just freeze. No response. I have to press the power button for 10s to turn it off. This problem happens every time I tried to turn off my computer.

    Thanks

Right click the task bar, go to task manager, applications tab, make sure there are no applications running in the background. Stop everything before shutting off. Other than that , I have no idea.
