This is the message I get when I attempt to change it:

I have tried some fix that was suggested in some sites (not about the exact same problem though), but nothing has changed.
    Any ideas?

That's the exact fix I tried, that I'm mentioning in my post.

Yep, that's the same fix as the above.

My OS is W7. The reason that I want to disable -as a matter of fact- the scheduler, is that I want to make sure that this (<- the defragmentation) is not the cause for some hdd issues that I'm experiencing. But I can't do that as you can see.

OK Sorry to give you the same no-fix link. When I googled your error message I got lots of hits. I just picked the one that looked like it was your problem. Try one of the other links on google.

Without the backslash I get an error, and with the backslash, well, I've already tried that.

I wonder if this happens due to Intel Rapid Storage Technology, which I have installed to get rid of some random freezes that occured in the past. Maybe it locks some settings in the hard drive department to make the system more robust. I guess it would be worth trying to uninstall it to see if the problem disappears.

You're right, I had seen first the solution that was about a similar problem (can't be bothered to find the link now) and got stuck in my head for some reason, even though I next saw the other problem that was exactly like mine. No big deal really. :)
