Very odd. On my Acer Aspire 1410, I'm not able to adjust screen brightness while Windows 7 was running. Screen brightness is adjusted by pressing the FN and Arrow keys at the same time.
When I rebooted, I could adjust screen brightness with he FN/Arrow keys UNTIL I saw the "Starting Windows" logo. Then it no longer worked.
Any idea what I can do to fix this?

Hotkeys drivers for the windows OS takes over at the windows logo. Go to the vendor website to update it so windows can support it also.
