    Can't Open REGEDIT

    when i type 'regedit' in run....get this:

    16 bit MS-DOS Subsystem

    C:\WINDOWS\system32\regedit.com
    The NTVDM CPU has encounered an illegal instruction.
    CS:9fff IP:0054 OP:db ff ff c3 e7 Choose 'Close' to terminate the application

    IGNORE....or CLOSE


    i've restarted and i stil get this msg...any help?

    Yikes, that doesn't sound good. Virus possibly? If not, the only thing I can think of is reinstalling SP2 (assuming you have XP) which may reinstall regedit...but then again, it might not help at all...

    lol...it wus some type of trojan...cleared it out with adaware...thanks guys

    Yeah, the .COM gave it away. The Registry Editor is Regedit.exe.
