Anyone else have this problem? Everytime I try to install Open Office I get this message:

Error 1935. An error occurred during the installation of assembly 'policy.1.1.cli_types,publickeyToken="ce2cb7e279207b9e",version="4.0.0.0",culture="neutral". Please refer to Help and Support for more information. HRE...

I have googled for a solution and they recommend:
    1. .net cleanup tool - done
    2. Disabled Antivirus / Firewall - done

I tried to install the latest .net version but the install fails everytime for that as well. I can't afford Office XP. Anyone have any other ideas? Much appreciated.

    Matt

    Tried this?

If you use Vista, you'll need to take the ownership of the file:

I've got nothing better so far. Free bump for you, hopefully someone could suggest something. I'll keep trying to find other possible solutions.

Edit: Are you trying to do a "custom" install? If yes, try to to do a complete install, this worked for some people.

    Thanks for your help :)

I'm trying a Complete install, but I've tried custom install and installing everything as well. This really stinks I'd hate to have to format to get it to work I have everything setup nice finally :(

Ok I think theres something wrong with my .net. - I can't install starplayr a sirius client which requires:

    The following prerequisites are required:

    Windows Installer 3.1
    .NET Framework 3.5

    http://starplayrwin.geekstoolbox.com/publish.htm

Any ideas how I can get these two items installed on my machine manually? the installers for them fail every time for some reason. :( this is a pain. I should mention I've tweaked my services - but I do have windows installer set to automatic. Is there anything else that is required to install said components?

Windows Installer gets updated from Windows Updates, .NET Framework updates too. In my experience .NET (un)install has been almost always problematic. Refuse to install, refuse to uninstall. There are a lots of articles how to (un)install .NET Frameworks and it's all about to clean the previous installation leftovers and stuff but those cleaners never worked for me. The few times when I had to deal with this problem I always ended up with fresh install of XP.....
