I use the free version of AVG. Spybot, Ad-Aware and Microsoft just came out with a anti-spyware tool. It supposed to be pretty good. I would also recommend getting your mail on Yahoo, MSN, Gmail, etc. I would use a internet browser that is not Internet Explorer. I use FireFox, but there are others like Opera or Netscape.

avg i think is the most liked antivirus. i used that for a while, but i think i want the peace of mind knowing that im well secure. im about to purchase nod32 and zonealarm pro once my trials run out.

    im running:
microsoft antispyware beta: the spyware scanner, and the "agents"
spybot s&d: the scanner, and the immunization. teatimer is good, but off
adaware: just the scanner, the adwatch isnt available free
zonealarm pro: also has a spyware scanner, triple layer firewall
nod32: has active resident protection, and the "normal" virus scan

    i recommend these. zap is $40, nod32 is $40
