Is there a simple program available to monitor temperatures, fan speeds, system parameters that anyone is aware of?

I am running a DV2432CA and tend to like to monitor those things. I know of some gadgets for the sidebar but havent seen one I like.

Any assistance you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks. I am new to Vista and was wondering if there was a way to utilize these programs as gadgets instead of tray driven programs. I'm seeking CPU Temps, Fan Speed, HD Temp, Battery Discharge Rate etc.

NHC looks to be over the top and is exactly what it says a Notebook Controller. Extremely powerful by the looks of it and larger than what I was hoping for.

I'm familiar with Hmonitor and it seems to give very limited functionality on my HP DV2432 Laptop.

I tried Everest and it looks very powerful with some builtin Sidebar Gadget capability. I'll try to optimize it to what I want.

    Thanks for the assistance.

Looks like a good feature set but it says i need administrator rights (which i have) to run it. Might not be Vista compatible.

Are any of you running it in vista?

    Thank you for your help.

whats an acceptable range for hd temperatures?

mine is currently around 49-52 C, while my cpu is around 47 C.

is that considered on teh high end of the scale?

HDD: Most 2.5" HDD's maximum recommend temperature is 55 C, so you are nearing it. My Toshiba MK1234GSX is usually around 36-40.

CPU: Is your CPU idling or on a full load? My CPU temperature on a full load without undervolting is 80+ C. On idle my fan turns on at 50 C and off at 38 C.

So your HDD is on the edge and your CPU is fine.
