You can use a recovery of the key, there is software to do it, but i dont know what is allowed to be talked about here. Google is your friend :)

If you formatted yourself that will be the correct key.
If you didn't, and you're using a factory image, that probably WON'T be your key.

This seems to be happening to all my computers with the new coa stickers.
most of lettering other than the serial key wears of quite fast.
The serial key seem to be the only text that stays on.
It probably is a little tuffer and takes a while to wear off.
On my notebooks I cut a piece of clear packaging tape and cover the COA ;)

I mean when your machine is factory loaded, they don't load it by hand the way you or I would load a computer. What they do is have an image that will work on your model of laptop, and just push it onto every drive that goes into your model of laptop. All of these will share the same key, which will not work for installation nor activation. The key on your COA will usually be different than the key you pull from a factory image with a tool like SIW or Magical Jellybean Keyfinder.

Same, but I also keep a text file with all of my licenses in it, just in case.
