What do you all use to burn a dvd from your laptop?

I guess you would need to first burn a copy to the hard drive, but wasn't sure what program to use and how to go about doing this. I can probably just use nero to transfer it to the dvd-r, but I wasn't sure of the steps. TIA.

i use nero 6. Just drag and drop the files you want into the DVD window and click burn.

It is actaully as simple as that.

If you need free software then here is a free burning program:

Nero 6 also. If you are talking about backing up movies, and therfore might want to copy a dual layer to a single layer disc, you will need to shrink the dvd. To shrink you can use dvdshrink (google it). I bet there are tons of other software that do the shrinking thing, not sure what are the best since I don't do it too often

OEM copy of Nero is around $10 on eBay. I personally prefer six over seven as seven is still a little buggy. Plus it tries to take over everything. DVD Shrink is not being supported anymore. It is starting to work with less discs.
