Just got a BSOD that says 'WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR'. Had a few of these in the past few months. What is it? Why is it? How is it?

I was just browsing the internet at the time with Chrome. Checking out news about Android 4.4.2, that was all. Nothing out of the ordinary.

It can be a ton of things. With luck simply a driver issue at worse some hardware either not compatible with Windows 8 or failing.

If you have an error code or more of the BSOD information it may be useful to help diagnose the issue, but most of the time these are the kind of sparse errors that would require a tech hands on time to troubleshoot and diagnose.

Do you have any devices showing missing drivers in your device manager?
Did you make any major changes to the system (IE Upgraded to Win 8 , or installed/changed hardware or a driver set)

If you want serious help, we would need a lot more detail.

In device manager the Insyde Airplane Mode HID Mini-Driver has a yellow exclamation mark. I have installed the latest Windows 8.1 compatible driver from Clevo website for that, not sure why it's playing up. I'll give updating the BIOS a try, I'm on an outdated version, maybe that will help.

If you're overclocking your CPU without the correct voltage (generally not enough) or BCLK is set higher than your system likes it, this can cause the WHEA Uncorrectable Error. Simply resetting your BIOS to defaults might correct it.
