Recently, I purchased a new notebook (ASUS V1J) which booted in about 40 seconds after I re-installed Win XP Pro.

    The following specs:
    T7200
    7200RPM Hard disk
    1GB 667MHz memory

    Bootvis bootlog:

Currently the notebook needs more than 1 minute to boot and after the ''Welcome'' sound it requires an additional 20 seconds before it actually moves on to the desktop.

As you can see in the log, ''Shell'' and ''Logon+Service'' are predominantly causing the bottleneck, but how do I find out to improve the boot time?

    Thanks in advance.

how about a simple clean-up of start.processes and disable (or set to manual) un.needed "start" services?
getting rid of windows disk "indexing" can also improve the start.up

    cheers ...
