Uhm, for the past few days my laptop is having a problem... It just freezes (black screen) and restarts on its own.

It sometimes prompt me to repair via placing windows vista disk, but this fails to repair the problem. Also, I tried doing restoring to previous restore point, but to no avail didn't fix the problem.

I had a problem with this one before, what I did is to reformat the whole thing, but I was wondering if there's a way to actually fix the problem without resorting to reformat?

    Here's the log from windows:

Run glary utility's to clear your temp files and see if that helps.

    if you can attach
    C:\Windows\Minidump\Mini080309-03.dmp

someone will run it through a windows debugger and tell you the cause of the problem.

Go into your event viewer and post the errors and the file it shows. That much might say weather it is a driver, software or hardware problem.

Unless you have something on your machine you cannot lose, a full format wouldn't be a bad idea.
