    Hi,
The display of my Lenovo Y510p turns off and the laptop stops responding completely, the CAPS light doesn't change when the button is pressed. So i have to do a hard shutdown every time, which is not very safe.

I have been monitoring my logs, and every time this freeze happens, there is this error immediately before it:
An I/O operation initiated by the Registry failed unrecoverably. The Registry could not flush hive (file): ''.

I have no clue about this error and i've never messed with the registry before. I did a full system scan yesterday with Avast premium, and nothing was detected.

Can someone please help me out, i did a lot of research but could not find anything useful.

    My Specs are :
    Windows 8
    I7-4700
    GT 750 Sli
    16 GB

I'm sorry if i didn't provide enough information or posted in the wrong section, I'm very new here.

    Thanks :)

was just going to ask have you got any other antivirus or malware programs loaded but then found this on the avast forum

    http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=119607.0

it hasnt helped the user but its worth giving some of the options a go as it might work for you.
