This is the first time I am using bitlocker. If I make a system image using windows backup for my system that has bitlocker enabled, what is the implication? If I take that image, is it only restorable on the original computer?

I don't believe the encryption is included when you do a full backup. It should even warn you about this when you attempt to do so. But that was on Vista. Perhaps in W7, the bitlocker is unique to your system, I'm not sure....
