I was looking at my BIOS and must have changed something (I swear I didn't), but not my computer will not boot properly. It comes up with a black screen that says "Windows did not start successfully. A recent hardware or software change may have caused this." It gives you the option to boot in safe mode (with a few more safe mode options), boot with last good settings and boot Windows XP normially. None of these work. Could you please help me? The BIOS version is 1.10. Thanks. Sorry if this is in the wrong forum.

Check what exactly? I have a feeling it is the boot order, but am not sure what is the correct one..

Turns out when I disabled the AHCI configuration my computer started up fine. So I guess I enabled that while looking through the BIOS. Thanks for the help.

Glad it worked. Also, you should have an option in BIOS setup to restore defaults, which you could also have used if you don't remember what you might have changed earlier. ;)

I tried to do that and I am not really sure why that didn't work.
