I did this years ago so I'm going by memory.

What you need is CD creation software with 1.44 floppy emulation to create a bootable cd .iso.

I used a program called cdburnerxp (freeware). I think I even saw it in the "free Vista software" thread.

First, make sure the optical is a bootable option in the bios.

Download your bios zip file and extract.

In my case, I used cdburnerxp, added the files and selected to make the .iso bootable option using 1.44 floppy emulation. This images the sofware's own bootfiles onto the disk.

Add the bios file to your layout and create.

If you find one of those Boot cd's with utilities, you can add your bios to it and create you own cd. In this case, you would not use the "make bootable" option in the software since the bootcd is already bootable itself.

Sometime later I found a nifty little program called DrDFlash. It's a very simple and quick dos bootloader program which is specifically written to create bios floppies. I've always wanted create a bootable bios cd with it. In fact, I think I will.

    Try Alex Feinman's free ISOrecorder.
It's what I use for making/burning a BIOS to CD and it has never failed on me.
    Cheers.

I don't know what your os is but it is vista compatible.

BTW, don't forget to make the .iso bootable under boot options.

Cdburnerxp isn't the only software that can do this. IIRC nero can do this as well but the process is different.

See if your own creation software has this ability if you can't get CDBXP to work for you.

When i install isorecorder, it finishes installing, but how do I open it?
I cant find it in program files or in applications?

Should I try installing it via usb?

Nope, it probably installed just fine.
It works as a shell extension, check the online manual here.

Another excellent program is ImgBurn, here is the manual for it.
And are you sure it's a zip file or is that because the (Winzip) program you use, associates .iso files to it?
Bios' are usually so small, that I don't understand why it would be zipped/rarred.
If your zip/rar program has ISO ticked as an extension associated with that program it will show up with a zip/rar icon, even if it's an ISO file.
    Cheers.

i managed to successfully boot to a usb drive.
The bios is still screwed up after the flash, so I guess their is something else wrong with it
