I tried that free web development software from giveawayaday the X5 Smart... Man did it suck.

I got my site up by using wordpress and a template and I really like it, but still I want to venture into making my own site.

Dreamweaver is the software that pops into my head, but before I start using it I want to reach out and ask for recomendations to see if there maybe some better choices.

Also is fireworks worth learning? Im already very good in photoshop so it should come pretty natural I would imagine.

Expression Web2 is alright. You can download a trial from Microsoft to see if you like it. It's designed to be more for the code-inclined than that X5 software.

If you're a student then you can actually get the whole Expression Studio for free from Dreamspark.

Download the trial and see if it fits your needs.

I like Kompozer a lot as a light weight html editor.

I would not have thought of it as a website composing package but maybe it is.

It's much more for programmers. So I like it (but still have much problems grasping asp.net. i understand c#, .net, and php. but asp.net is beyond my understanding somehow.. dunno :)).

but it's still great for the not so .. arty .. webpages. (my page is such an example hahah. not really pretty at all)
