I purchased a IBM R51 Thinkpad for my daughter for Christmas. I didn't realise that it didn't come with any Office or Word programs. She needs this for colledge. What programs do you recommend ( she is taking nursing) and where is the best place to purchase them (on a budget) ? Many Thanks

    Orlando,
You can usually buy office at a reduced price through your daughters school. I think you will get the best price that way.
    good luck

And also you could try knock-offs and freeware as well:

    http://www.jarte.com/

    Or:

    http://www.msboycott.com/thealt/alts/office.shtml

    And while your at it:
    http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/

And If you simply must go 'MicoCrap', try E-bay for used software packages.
