What is the best software to use for Vista. I am fairly new to this but am adept to programs. I am looking for something comparable to Final Cut Pro for macs. So any suggestions?

Dunno what a Final Cut or a mac is, but I use Sony Vegas 8 in Vista (and XP). There are some production and editing software available from Adobe as well. Free stuff - you can checkout VirtualDubMod and Avidemux, for minor editing and enhancements.

^ When I switched over to Vista, Vegas just refused to work. I stopped editting after that. :( Is there anyway to get it working?

Erm, try reinstalling or talk to Sony about it. It works fine for me in Vista (I'm using it right now!).

I use Premiere Pro CS3. Works great in Vista and is comparable to Final Cut Pro. In fact, Premiere has the feature of allowing you to set to keyboard shortcuts and layout just like it is in Final Cut Pro.

If you can get your hands on a copy. Check it out.

If you're willing to put up the cash, Premiere Pro CS3 would be the way to go if you want something comparable to Final Cut.

I have to second Sony Vegas 8. It feels more user friendly than CS3 or 4 in my opinion. Either one would be good options with a ton of how-tos on the web for both.

I think you have to upgrade to a new version before it works properly in Vista.

Have you tried excluding it from the Data Execution Protection?

-That was the solution for me.
