I like the functionality, features, and performance of JkDefrag GUI the best.

this isn't free, but its a one time cost for an awesome defrag. i got mine as a gift so it was technically free.

    called disktrix, and it rules.

FWIW, the built-in Windows Defrag utility in Vista is pretty good. JkDefrag uses the standard Microsoft defrag API to do its thing.

Max PC did a quick review of a couple of defraggers a month or two ago. I'll try to find the article and scan them in.

Some are free, some are pay. Will also take 15-20 min to scan since I need the driver for the scanner which I need to download since the CD doesn't include Vista drivers.

EDIT: installing drivers now (6pm central).

Generally, most users don't need fancy features like boot-time defrag or single file defrag because in my opinion, you wouldn't notice better performance. Just keep the fragmentation at a low rate and you should do fine.

notyou, I can't read the whole article in your pictures, but I think I get the gist of it from that last image. :)

That was always pretty much my attitude. If the files aren't fragmented, they're not fragmented. Sure, it helps to defrag your disk, and one program might get it defragged faster or with a different UI... but I don't see it making much difference how you get the files defragmented as long as they do get defragmented. That's why I just use Windows' built-in. I don't really care how fast it runs because I'm going to let it run while I'm asleep.

ok, thanks... I can now read it... and I have now read the article.

I find it kind of amusing that Auslogics and PerfectDisk actually worsened performance in their tests.

Too bad they didn't test JKDefrag.

I'd like to see some quantitative tests like this for registry cleaners too... I looked around the net but I couldn't find any.
