    Hello,

I've reached my wit's end and am hoping someone can help! Dell Inspiron 15R (N5010) Laptop is occasionally experiencing a BSOD and restarting when brought out of sleep state.

    Specs: i5-430M Processor 2.26 GHz, 4GB Ram, 1GB ATI MobRadeon HD 5470, 500GB Hard Disk. Windows 7 (64-Bit)

I'v looked in Reliability History and identified critical events, and from that found the related minidumps. I have run WinDbg on these and got the following diagnostics which I can't really make sense of. Can anyone tell what driver/hardware is responsible and how this might be rectified?

    Thanks for your help!!

    Here's some stuff to try:

Run "Event Viewer" and see if you can find any more clues about which driver isn't cooperating.

Make sure your OS and all drivers are up-to-date... see dell.com, support section for the latest drivers.

Go into Device Manager and disable any devices you haven't used ever, or in the past year or so. This might include: modem, firewire (1394), smart card reader, expresscard reader, and anything else you never use. You can easily re-enable anything if you need it.

You may want to go into BIOS setup and disable some devices at that level too. Also, run the system diagnostics test (POST) from BIOS.

For the devices you do use, look in Device Manager and see if there are any Power Management settings you can fiddle with.

Oh yeah, if you do need a device, you can also see if it works with native Windows drivers, which tend to be more stable than manufacturer drivers. To do this, uninstall the driver and see if you can still use the device. Mouse and sound may work fine using native drivers.

If a clean install reproduces the issue it is hardware.

posting the actual dump would allow a better answer.

As windows will disable and alter the power status of many devices, it is difficult to say which. Video drivers power down screens, network devices can be disabled to save power, cpu will alter states, usb ports will power off.

    Post the dump.

Diagnose the minidumps with "WhoCrashed" tool.
Maybe you can see what module causes the BSODs.

@gerryf19 - Hi Gerry - Thanks in advance for your help; Here's the minidump file for the 13/10/2010 crash.

@ Maximinimaus & MrDJ: Thanks for your suggestion - below is output from WhoCrashed, though in this instance it does not seem to be much more helpful than the output from windbg

Yeah, the dump pretty much confirms whocrashed.

Looking through the driver list, it appears the most likely out of date ones are the wireless and/or video.

I would update those and see if the problem continues
