The Notebook Review forums were hosted by TechTarget, who shut down them down on January 31, 2022. This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

Sometimes when I am typing a long response to a question here on NBR I accidentally hit the back button on my browser and erase all the text, even if I press forward it's gone. Does anyone know of any extension for FireFox that will automatically save all the test that I type temporarily?

I know I can copy and paste periodically but I'd like something that would do it automatically.

I think there would be issues with passwords and such. Some members just use word to type responces than copy paste.

MS Office has a number of save options, and you can set AutoRecovery to save as frequently as you wish. To do this, open an MS Word page and click the Windows logo in the upper left hand corner of the screen. Click: Word Options, and then, in the left hand column, click on Save. You will find all of the Save options there, including Save AutoRecover information every __ minutes. Check this, and fill in how often you want the text saved.

If you first draft your response in a Word page in MS Office, you can automatically save as often as you wish. Sorry for the double post. I knew how to AutoRecover, but I guess I didn't do so well with the "Edit Post" command.

You can try the AutoCopy extension. It's basically the copy/paste method again but you need only to select the text and it's automatically copied to the clipboard. It just saves you the use of ctrl+c(or rightclick->copy).

Well, I think your problem is solved if you use Opera or IE8(beta2) I am using :)
