What is a good free software program that can convert windows media audio files to iTunes compatible audio (pref mp3) files and vice a versa?

You can use iTunes itself to convert windows media audio files to aac etc not sure about the other way round tho.

.wma -> .aac Just add the music to your library and it will ask you if you want to convert it.

Must be a relatively new thing as I've not noticed it before, in the past it's just ignored wma files when adding folders to your library.

what version of itunes are you running? the version I have doesn't actually play them, it asks if you want to convert them, once it's done that it will play the new file.

weird, same as me... there's a few ways of importing tunes so I don't know if it's that which makes the difference. I usually just drag a folder onto the word library in the left hand list. I'll have to give it a try tonight when I get home to remember how I did it!

Do your .wma files use DRM?

You will be able to tell if you right click on the .wma file that you are talking about. This will give you information about the track and if it says "protected: Yes" then it is DRM protected.

I have had good experience removing DRM with Tunebite. After removing DRM it will play anywhere.

    Hope it helps. ;)

Well it only will do one minute of a song b/c it is the trial version, is there any freeware that can do the same thing?
